I'm back!

Sorry for being out for the last two days. There was a death in the family and I was needed in New York. I also apologize for not keeping up the website these past few days, needless to say things have been pretty busy.

Be on the lookout for the Pep Rally this Friday! Always a fun time, especially since the class schedule is shorter! Don't forget about spirit days this week:
  • Monday: "Twin Day" - Dress as a twin
  • Tuesday: "Heroes v. Villains Day" - Dress as your favorite Disney Hero or Villain
  • Wednesday: "Going to Disney Day" - Dress as a Disney Tourist
  • Thursday: "Classic Movie Day" - Dress as a classic movie character
  • Friday: "Green Out Day" - Wear your green to support Leesville Teams at the Pep Rally!
  • Saturday: Homecoming Dance (7pm - 11pm at the LRHS Food Court)

Don't forget about Community Night at the LRHS Football stadium from 5 - 8:30. $4 at the gate for entry and bring money to play the games. Freshman/Sophomore Powderpuff Football game will be from 6:30 - 7:00. The Junior/Senior Powderpuff game will be from 7:15 - 8:15.

Picture day is also this Thursday, here is the phone announcement from Mr Lyons.

Getting Ready!

Its August and I am warming myself up for the coming school year. That means I am getting the website ready, adding content and this year I am adding the AP Economics page! I am excited for this school year, for me it means another chance to do it better than the last time. That is a challenge I relish semester after semester and year after year. So be on the look out for updates on the website, including the AP Economics page, updated Twitter feeds, and calendars.
Enjoy the rest of the summer and I look forward to meeting you all soon!

Week of 21 February 2011

It is already Wednesday and I should have done this earlier in the week to remind everyone that Monday remained a Teacher Workday as originally scheduled but Tuesday became a Weather Make-up day from first semester (which date this is specifically making up I do not remember). The good news is it gives us one more day this semester to make sure we get through our curriculum.

Be on the lookout on Monday, February 28, for Interim Reports. Every student in all classes will be getting interim reports to bring home to parents, so keep your eyes open because they are on the way!

Speaking of on the way, this semester is well underway and everyone should be settled in to their courses. Students should know the expectations of the teachers and teachers should have 1) made clear their expectations, and 2) should have an idea of what to expect from their students. We had a little taste of warm weather last week and this past weekend, but we should not let it distract us from our goal here at school - academic success. It may take a little more effort to persevere but it is important that you keep up with the tasks asked of you, meet your deadlines, and don't let yourselves down. In the end, the results of your choices will be evidence of your level of commitment to excellence.

Week of 7 February 2011

We have a bit of a different week coming up, especially on Friday. Friday is not only an early release day (dismissal at 11:48) but it is also the Winterfest Assembly. The bell schedule for the day is as follows:
  • Period 1 7:25-8:05
  • Period 2 8:11-8:51
  • Period 3 8:56-9:36
  • Period 4 9:42-10:22
  • Classes called for Assembly 10:25 - 10:35
  • Assembly 10:40 - 11:35
  • Return to Period 4 11:38 - 11:48
NOTE: Lunch will not be served on Friday.

The Winterfest Assembly is a presentation of the Senior class. It showcases student talent to the school and introduces the Winterfest Court. The Winterfest Court is akin to the Homecoming Queen except that it features a Winterfest King and Queen. In addition to the assembly, there is a dance on Saturday, at Leesville Road High School, from 7:00 to 11:00 pm.

Welcome to 2nd Semester!

Welcome to 2nd Semester! I am looking forward to working with you in the upcoming months to ensure your success in your course. This week is a shortened one, and it seems any threat of winter weather that we were being warned about last week will not actually occur.

Besides being the beginning of the semester and you new courses, there are a few other things you should be aware of this week: there will be a fire drill Wednesday during Pride Period (bring your coats, it will be cold); Open House for your parents is Thursday evening; report cards will be distributed on Friday (I believe in your 2nd period class).

For more detail of what to expect, visit the webpage for your course, either Civics & Economics or World History.
